Dragon battles... again
« on: February 07, 2010, 09:44:33 PM »
Sorry if I misunderstood you counterargument, but I had this idea long ago but didn't post it there. The main idea is fights as comparing dragons but not as resource stealing. I don't think it will be a bad idea of growing not just a sheep that is cutted every day for scales/fur but a really powerful battle dragon.
Visually it will be like that: when user visits dragon's page, he or she can choose one of his/her dragon to fight with visited dragon. Fight will be automatical, and user will only receive battle log after a fight. Winner will not get any resources - it's just for fun. Loser will know nothing. And all fight will be affected by random, so user can fight that dragon again. Fight will not be saved anywhere, so user will have to make a screenshot if he/she wants to memorize this fight.
Technically: server script gets dragons' numbers, calculates dragon's parameters and sends them to javascript. Of course, it uses almost every dragons' parameter - from number of visits to item's elements. Javascript generates a fight log and shows it to user. That's all. So all the load of fight will be by user's side, not by server.

What do you think?

Dragon battles has been suggested before and already turned down. Thaz and draconis do not wish to have DrA dragons as aggressive, fighting machines. It does not fit into DrA, as DrA dragons are peaceful beings, who can live with each other without the need to fight. Ye, they have their squabbles, but do not feel the need to fight when they meet another members dragons.  dXD

If you check the stickied topic on already suggested ideas, it'll help you get an idea on what members have already put forward.

Yes, I know that similar idea has already been rejected. But I offer to make a different thing. Main counterarguements are:
1) - dragons are not agressive, they're peaceful. They're peaceful, but not completely. What about friendly fights, like playing, when none of dragons get injuries? I know, these dragons are vegeterians, but let's pretend that dragon food gives them too much energy to stand still, so they want to be naughty. =)
2) - too much coding. My idea is to make only one additional page, one script and to slightly modify one page.
3) - server will be laggy. All fight are calculating on users' computers - server just gathers information once for pair of dragons.
4) - we are adopters. Is it a bad idea to adopt mighty dragon? Or you like minifactories producting resources?
What else?

1) So what if they wanna be naughty? You want to become the owner of a naughty dragon? Personally I don't. And if they do want to be naughty, and if you tell them to fight other dragons, that makes you sounds like an evil tyrant leading 7 dragons, fighting every single dragon you meet.

2) Modify ONE page? how many dragonpages exist in the game? I bet you couldn't count all of 'em.

3) Calculations done at our computer? That would make the CPU to work even harder. Many people play DrA as a relaxing game, opening their dragonpage along with several stuff at their computer. That would make the PC thrashed

4) Adopters, NOT TRAINERS. Our dragons are already great the way they are. If you FORCE them to fight (yeah, by doing so, you force them) you don't deserve to be here.

And, another point I wanna add.

-Look up at your browser page, and read the web address. It says DRAGONADOPTERS. Not DRAGONFIGHTERS. If you still want to play force your dragon to fight, make your own website.

-As I said before, you will be forcing them to fight. And, like you said, the dragons could fight each other again and again. If you're forced to fight one of your best friends, every single day, every single night, would you? Try to see this stuff from your DRAGON'S point of view. And, if you say something like "They're just pixel images in a website".......You'll see

I'll be locking this. If you check through all suggestions relating to dragon fights that were made in the past, you will see that allowing the dragons to fight is just not going to happen. It's been turned down from day one, going all the way back to when the game first came out. The creators of this game won't be allowing dragon fights.

(side note: many members do not wish their dragons attacked)
